MAKKAH – The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has officially launched a nationwide awareness campaign titled “Jai lil Umrah” (Coming for Umrah), aimed at enhancing the quality of services and enriching the spiritual journey of pilgrims as the season nears its peak in the holy month of Ramadan.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Saudi Hajj and Umrah ecosystem, focuses on raising awareness regarding official guidelines, arrival procedures, and etiquette at the Two Holy Mosques. It seeks to ensure a seamless transition for pilgrims from their point of departure to their safe return home.

Aligning with Vision 2030

The “Jai lil Umrah” campaign is a strategic component of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and the Pilgrim Experience Program. These initiatives are designed to facilitate the arrival of more pilgrims while significantly improving the quality of hospitality and access to Islamic holy sites.

The timing of the launch is critical, as recent data shows a record-breaking influx of faithful. Since the start of the 1447 AH Umrah season, the number of international pilgrims has surpassed 11.8 million, reflecting both a surge in religious enthusiasm and a massive logistical challenge for authorities.

Omnichannel Outreach at 18 Strategic Touchpoints

To ensure maximum reach, the campaign utilizes a sophisticated communication strategy across digital and physical platforms. Authorities have established more than 18 primary contact points located in high-traffic areas, including:

  • Entry Points: International airports, seaports, and land borders.
  • Transportation Hubs: High-speed rail stations and bus terminals.
  • Hospitality Zones: Hotels, residential apartments, and major shopping districts.
  • Religious Sites: The courtyards of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, and various historical landmarks.

Information is disseminated through high-tech digital billboards, interactive signage, and direct SMS alerts to pilgrims’ mobile devices, ensuring they stay informed about crowd management and health protocols.

A Unified Multi-Sector Collaboration

The “Jai lil Umrah” initiative is not a solo effort by the Ministry; it involves a massive coalition of over 24 government, private, and non-profit entities. This collaborative framework ensures that every segment of the pilgrimage infrastructure—from transport to housing—operates in synergy.

By integrating technology with on-ground hospitality, the Kingdom aims to provide a more culturally and spiritually profound experience. As the Ramadan season approaches, this campaign serves as a cornerstone in Saudi Arabia’s commitment to serving the “Guests of Allah” with the highest global standards of efficiency and care.
